We welcome external groups to the Royal Palace of Stockholm all year round. Independent visits during ordinary opening hours cannot be pre-booked, you are welcome to visit at any time during the day. However, opening hours should always be checked before visiting as there may be closures in conjunction with HM The King's official receptions.
The Royal Palace of Stockholm has four public units: the Royal Apartments, the Treasury, the Tre Kronor Museum and, during the summer season, Gustav III's Museum of Antiquities. It is possible to visit one or more units.
We do not have any minimum or maximum limits for external groups, but we recommend a maximum of 30 people to ensure the best possible experience. Large groups may be directed past certain rooms due to space constraints. Please follow the instructions of the palace staff.
For visits outside opening hours, please see bookning form further down on this page.
During the period from around October to May, groups are welcomed to the Royal Apartments via the West Gate, the Outer Courtyard (2). During this period, groups can move between the apartments of the palace as they wish.
During the summer season, entry to the Royal Apartments is mainly via the South Gate from Slottsbacken (6), and during most part of the summer there is a one-way flow through the apartments. As soon as a decision is made on when this one-way flow will start in 2019, an update will be provided here.
Public guided tours of the palace are held every open day. The tours are intended for individual visitors and generally start in The Hall of States. External groups are welcome to start their tour in another room if they prefer, with approval from the palace staff and of course with consideration to other groups. The schedule for our public guided tours can be found here.
Exceptions may occur in conjunction with HM The King's official receptions.

The changing of the guard
The changing of the guard and the parade are a popular tourist attraction. During the summer months, the parade marches or rides with the Music Corps through the streets of the city and up to the Outer Courtyard of the palace. Times and information can be found at the website of the Swedish Armed Forces.
NB: During the high season, entry and exit via the West Gate will be limited during the changing of the guard. When the Inner Courtyard is open, we recommend using the South Gate instead.
