Every year, Princess Sofia – together with other members of the Royal Family – takes part in the celebration of Sweden's National Day, the birthdays of The King and The Crown Princess, the Opening of the Parliamentary Session and the Nobel festivities.
On 1 January 2016, Princess Sofia was named the new Honorary Chair of Sophiahemmet. The Princess succeeded Princess Christina, Mrs Magnuson, who had been Honorary Chair since 1972.
The Prince Couple established Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia's Foundation to mark the occasion of their marriage on 13 June 2015. The purpose of the foundation is to counteract bullying, with the vision that children and young people should have the right and the opportunity to be themselves. The work focuses on combating online hate speech and raising awareness of dyslexia. The Prince Couple's own involvement in these issues forms the basis of the foundation's work.
Princess Sofia is one of the founders of the non-profit organisation Project Playground. The organisation works in South Africa and Sweden to improve the life opportunities of children and young people through organised activities, sports and social activities with a focus on the individual. Today, The Princess plays an active role as the Honorary Chair of Project Playground.
