Activities for all ages

The Palace contains a thousand years of history, from the Middle Ages to its present role as an official residence. On National Day, you can explore the State Apartments and the museums at your own pace. In the Festvåningen (State Floor), a commemorative display is presented featuring photographs, clothing and objects from the Royal Couple’s wedding in 1976, as well as their life together.

The Inner Courtyard is open, where you can, among other things, meet staff from the Royal Stables and see both a classic car and a ceremonial carriage. There is also a shop from the Royal Gift Shop and short presentations about the cultural heritage. For children, activities include a coronation experience, costume try-ons and a bouncy castle.

Logården and the Bernadotte Library will be open

Logården, the palace's waterside gardens, will be open on the day. The North Gate will also be open from Lejonbacken.

Visitors will have the chance to visit the Bernadotte Library, which is not normally open to the public. There will be tours of the library on several occasions during Sweden's National Day.

Music

The National Day celebrations at the palace traditionally include music. The Armed Forces Music Corps will perform in the Outer Courtyard during the day, and there will be a concert in the Palace Chapel featuring performers including the Stockholm Student Singers.

Watch the cortège

The Royal Family will leave the Royal Palace at 17:55 in the Royal Stables' horse-drawn carriages. The route will pass along Slottsbacken, Skeppsbron, Norrbro, Strömgatan, Kungsträdgårdsgatan, Berzelii Park, Strandvägen, Djurgården Bridge and Djurgårdsvägen.
